Photography : Astronomy : Watching the Storm

The catwalk around the dome of the 2m on Kitt Peak National Observatory in Arizona has great views. The impressive 4m and a few other telescopes are to the Northeast. It almost appears as if the telescopes are looking out over the valley at the impressive storm. During the rest of the year the weather at KPNO is great, but the Southwest gets all of its rain from May to July ... which is exactly when I was on the mountain. I couldn't observe any other time, though, since the object I was studying gets the highest above the horizon during monsoon season. I managed to get two nights of fantastic data in spite of the weather!
