Photography : Astronomy : Crescent Sun

A solar eclipse occured in May, 2012, where the Moon's shadow raced across the globe starting in China, sliding North to Alaska, streaking down California, to end in New Mexico. I organized a (roughly) 2000-person event in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Since the Moon's shadow passed over Albuquerque, affording them the glorious view of an annular eclipse, we "only" witnessed a (90%) partial eclipse. Organizing the event meant I did not take many pictures, nonetheless it was amazing and exhausting and enjoyable. Less than two weeks later we experienced another amazing celestial event, the transit of Venus!

At the bottom are shots of the eclipse in progress, taken through solar glasses. It turned out more artistic than I expected!
