A pair of lovebirds relaxes on a tree branch at the zoo in Santiago, Chile. Birds preen to keen the vanes aligned on their feathers, much like we brush our hair. Mutual preening is a sign of affection among couples or friendship among non-couples. The bird being preened is fluffed up slightly and has its eyes narrowed in contentment.
