Photography : Birds : Flock of pelicans

Pelicans glide in formation in a resaca (an oxbow lake), looking for a morning snack under the watchful eyes of two cormorants. The pelicans were careful to keep their very large wings from dangling in the water. In the two pictures below this one I got close-up views of the pelicans as they swam across the lake in a stateful progression and then synchronously dipped their necks into the water to look for fish. How they held their wings away from their bodies and the water made their shapes look very strange from across the lake.
