: Fauna: Viscacha

I have been to Chile to use telescopes three times, and only one time I got to see some viscacha. They look like a fat rabbit crossed with a squirrel, but all of their apparent chub is just fur. They are not rabbits; they are related to chinchillas. These two were cavorting around the rocks, making chirping noises, which is odd because I was told they were very shy. They are also tricky to spot, being well-camoflaughed and also noctural (just like astronomers using telescopes), so the only time I could see them is the last 15 minutes of sunset.
