I am just as fascinated by the leaves of the gladiolus as I am by the flowers. They are broad and veined with subtle colors, and they catch the sunlight beautifully. I mean, I know they're built to catch sunlight and turn it into food --- but that they should also be beautiful is a nice bit of luck.
